Junior Achievement's mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. Our volunteers teach kids in elementary, middle and high school about economics, business, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and workforce readiness using hands-on, age appropriate materials. Our service area includes Wake, Orange, and Durham counties, and 14 other counties in Eastern North Carolina. JA programs consist of 5 weekly sessions at the elementary school level, 6 weekly sessions at the middle school level, and 5-7 weekly sessions at the high school level. Classes range from 30 - 60 minutes depending on the grade level and program. Additionally we run JA in a Day where all programs are taught in one day usually in a team teaching approach with two volunteers often coworkers. You, as the volunteer, schedule the visits directly with the teacher to match your availability with that of the teacher. You will choose the school, grade level and program from the list of educators who have requested JA programs.
